The summer has been one of smashing through glass ceilings for The Pump.
We’ve had our first international press, courteously of the worlds largest print magazine, Rolling Stone.
The behemoth of music publishing printed an incredible 6 page spread on our venue in a feature called “On The Road” (a lovely nod to a touring musician and the incredible Jack Karouac book of the same name.) which is sandwiched between K-Pop and Metal titans BTS and Iron Maiden respectively. I mean, I’ll take that!!
The feature came about when Rolling Stone intern Sophie Porter visited the venue with her band, Other Half. The band who are signed to one of the UKs best labels, Big Scary Monsters, and who principle promoter Kieran Moore has a strong longstanding relationship with, came and played the venue.
The gig was booked by Sketchbook Records head honcho Simon Smith who had fallen in love with the bands latest album Dark Ageism.
Upon experiencing the venue, the team behind it and the ethos that makes The Pump so special, Sophie invited & prompted Simon to write an article about the grass roots music venue, which was then edited back at Rolling Stone HQ.
